Kendall Jenner’s new title at FWRD, and what it sells
REVOLVE Group named Jenner global creative director of FWRD and an ambassador for its REVOLVE Los Angeles label. The terms weren’t disclosed.
Kendall Jenner got a promotion this month. She went from creative director to global creative director, and picked up a second job as an ambassador on the side. In most companies, that’s an HR email. At REVOLVE Group, it’s a press release with a stock ticker in the first line.
REVOLVE Group (NYSE: RVLV) announced on Oct. 13 that it is expanding its partnership with Jenner, naming her global creative director of its luxury site FWRD and an ambassador for REVOLVE Los Angeles, its in-house fashion label, according to the company’s release. She has been FWRD’s creative director since 2021.
I read the release twice, looking for what the new title actually changes. The answer says a lot about how fashion retail sells itself now.
What the job is
As global creative director, Jenner will guide FWRD’s digital creative direction, including brand curation, monthly trend edits and major marketing initiatives, the release said. At FWRD, the company credits her with helping shape the site’s fashion authority through curated product edits, emerging designer discovery and brand storytelling.
The REVOLVE Los Angeles role is more familiar celebrity territory. She will front key campaigns, appear at major brand events and collaborate on what the company calls “exclusive fashion moments.” REVOLVE Los Angeles is the group’s first in-house fashion brand, launched in March 2026, and Bella Hadid was its first ambassador, FashionNetwork reported.
Read side by side, the two roles split neatly. One is a title that sounds like an executive job. The other is a face for a label. Jenner is now both.
Nearly a decade, or five years
There’s a small wobble in the release worth noticing. The company says Jenner has been part of the REVOLVE ecosystem for nearly a decade, beginning with early collaborations. Jenner’s own quote says, “Over the past five years, we’ve built something that feels authentic to who I am and how I approach fashion.”
Both can be true: a longer relationship, and five years in the FWRD role. But it’s a reminder that partnership announcements are written to sound like long, organic love stories. The numbers that matter are elsewhere.
Follow the sales line
FWRD’s net sales grew 14% year over year for the year-to-date period ended June 30, 2026, the release said, and REVOLVE reported strong double-digit net sales growth outside the U.S.
That’s a healthy number for a luxury e-commerce site. It’s also exactly the kind of figure a company puts next to a celebrity announcement, so readers connect the two. The release does not say Jenner caused the growth, and nothing in it shows that she did. A creative director influences what a site looks like and what it features. Whether that moves sales is something only internal data can show, and REVOLVE didn’t publish any.
What REVOLVE does say is who it’s selling to. The company describes itself as a retailer for Millennial and Generation Z consumers, with more than 1,600 emerging, established and owned brands, serving millions of shoppers and thousands of fashion influencers. For that audience, Jenner isn’t a name on a masthead. She’s one of the people whose taste they already follow.
The executive celebrity
“Kendall has been an important part of the REVOLVE family for many years,” Raissa Gerona, REVOLVE Group’s president of brand and partnerships, said in the release. Gerona also said Jenner has “an unmatched ability to connect with consumers through fashion.”
That sentence is the business model. Retail used to sell through department store windows and magazine ads. Now it sells through personalities, and companies have started giving those personalities titles that sound like they run something. Creative director is the favorite, because it implies judgment rather than just appearance.
My view: the title is partly real and partly packaging. Jenner almost certainly shapes the look of FWRD’s campaigns and edits. But the release is careful not to say she sets buying strategy or manages a team, and the second half of the announcement is plainly an ambassadorship. The word “global” tells you the company wants her reach working in the markets where it’s growing.
From the shopper’s screen
For someone scrolling FWRD, none of this shows up as a job title. It shows up as which designers get the homepage, which trends get a monthly edit, and which campaign images feel like something they’d see on Jenner’s own feed. That’s the point. The line between a celebrity’s personal style and a retailer’s merchandising gets thinner, and that’s exactly what the shopper is being sold.
What we don’t know
The release doesn’t disclose the terms of the deal, how much time the role requires or what Jenner is paid. It doesn’t say whether she has equity. It doesn’t explain how her work will be measured.
Jenner, for her part, said she is “incredibly excited” about the next chapter, according to the release. REVOLVE will be watching the sales line to see whether shoppers are, too.
