Donnie Wahlberg’s private jet runs out of runway in Las Vegas; all eight aboard unhurt
A Toronto-bound Dassault Falcon 50 left the end of a runway at Harry Reid International during an aborted takeoff. The FAA is investigating.
A private jet carrying Donnie Wahlberg ran off the end of a runway at Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas on Sunday, October 18, after an aborted takeoff. None of the eight people aboard were hurt.
What happened
- Aircraft: a Dassault Falcon 50 business jet, bound for Toronto Pearson Airport.
- The incident: the jet failed to get airborne, left the end of the runway and struck a perimeter fence.
- Injuries: none among the eight people on board.
- Airport: runways 1R and 1L were closed for inspection and reopened later the same day. The FAA briefly paused arriving flights, which caused delays.
- Investigation: the Federal Aviation Administration is investigating. Neither the agency nor the airport has said what caused the jet to leave the runway.
Wahlberg’s account
Officials did not initially name anyone on board. Wahlberg later confirmed on Instagram that he was traveling with his team and friends. In a video, he said the plane could not get into the air and “ran out of runway,” and he credited the pilots with keeping everyone safe.
What comes next
Investigators will look at the aircraft, the takeoff data and the crew’s decision to abort. Runway excursions like this one are rare and usually end without injuries, but each one is investigated to find out whether the cause was mechanical, procedural or related to conditions on the day.
